UPDATED: Michael Steele Likes Strippers

Okay, so maybe my headline is a bit over the top. But, it's not entirely deceptive. I give you Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee, and apparent fan of 'topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex':
...FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.

RNC trips to other cities produced bills from a long list of chic and costly hotels such as the Venetian and the M Resort in Las Vegas, and the W (for a total of $19,443) in Washington. A midwinter trip to Hawaii cost the RNC $43,828, not including airfare.
My emphasis.

Two thoughts for Mr. Steele:

1) If you are the head of the party whose platform (at least partially) is fiscal conservatism, dropping thousands of dollars at posh California hotels and restaurants is probably not a great idea.

2) Dude. If you are headed to what essentially amounts to a pricey strip club -- pay with cash!

UPDATE :: and here comes the investigation...

Also worthy of note (as far as this blog goes) is Greg Sargent's poignant reaction:
In fairness to Steele, the filings in question don’t specify who spent the money. It’s still unknown who the “non-committee staffer” is who spent this money, how this happened, and what the reaction of GOP donors will be to the RNC’s explanation.
So, the advice that I gave earlier should be directed at whomever was bone-headed enough to go out partying on the RNC's dime -- not Michael Steele.
