"I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay." -MSNBC President Phil Griffin, in response to the story that Keith Olbermann had contributed money to various Democratic candidates.

MSNBC's rules are fairly clear: "[It is] a breach of journalistic independence to contribute to the candidates they cover." and "You should report any such potential conflicts in advance to, and obtain prior approval of, the President of NBC News or his designee."

If you listen really carefully, you can Bill O'Reilly laughing...

MSNBC's Keith Olbermann will return to the air Tuesday night, after being suspended Friday for making political contributions to three Democrats. "After several days of deliberation and discussion, I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night's program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy. We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night," MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in a statement.
Honestly, I knew that something like this would be the extent of the punishment. Countdown is one of MSNBC's flagship programs and I figured that Griffin wouldn't want to ruin the ad revenue that Olbermann's show generates...
