Newt Gingrich Explains His Past Adultery

Gingrich, in an interview with CBN:
There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate. And what I can tell you is that when I did things that were wrong, I wasn't trapped in situation ethics, I was doing things that were wrong, and yet, I was doing them.

Shorter Newt: "I love my country so much that I had to cheat on my wives. I was working so hard for the American people."

Okay, so that's probably not exactly what he meant. But I have to say this much: is anyone else getting the distinct feeling that Newt is in WAAAAY over his head? When you take these comments and combine them with the, errr, bumpy rollout of his exploratory committee last week, the whole thing smacks of a junior-varsity attempt at a run for the GOP's nomination...
