You are listening to "Out All Night" by The Pietasters, from their 1997 Hellcat Records release
Willis. The band can best be described as 'ska meets soul' -- in fact that's exactly how they describe themselves.
Back in my heady days at university, I went through a pretty serious ska phase. I listened to a lot of Reel Big Fish, the Skatalites, Save Ferris, Less Than Jake, and of course The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. I happened upon the Pietasters by accident at some point in my junior year of college, and really liked what I heard, though
Willis is the group's only album that I ever bought. In looking around for info about the group I found that -- much to my surprise -- The Pietasters are still
together and touring.
I greatly enjoy their sound, and now that I know a little more about the group, would definitely check them out the next time that they are in my neck of the woods.
Enjoy your Sunday.
